Thanks to Washington’s agricultural resources and the generosity of our many food donors, Feeding Washington is able to offer produce to food banks outside of the state and even the region.  Here’s a great example of that partnership in action.

On February 14th, the five Feeding America food banks in Colorado held a Mobile Food Pantry at the Colorado State Capitol Building in Denver.

Those five food banks, Care and Share, Community Food Share, Food Bank for Larimer County, Food Bank of the Rockies, and Weld Food Bank, make up Feeding Colorado.

Their goals are to raise awareness of the issue of hunger, increase donations from farmers, retailers, and manufacturers, and of course to provide food access to all those living in Colorado who experience food insecurity.  Some of the aims of this Mobile Food Pantry were to put a face to hunger for their state legislators, show how the Colorado food banks collaborate so well together (and also how they collaborate and work with Feeding America network partners like Feeding Washington), and of course to feed people.

As part of the event, apples sourced via Feeding Washington were distributed along with the other food items.  We are so happy to be able to support increased distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables and to share the abundance that the Pacific Northwest has to offer with the rest of the network.

Keep up the great work Feeding Colorado!
